The new year comes with a fresh wave of automobile launches. Mahindra and Mahindra are all set to launch its first passenger car in India in 2016 And with so much action taking place in the Indian car and motorbike quarters ahead of the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo, how could Mahindra hold back.
The Indian car manufacturers are going to unveil the all-new ‘micro SUV’ the KUV100 on January 15. And it gets even better; as days before the launch, we bring you some special trivia about this entirely new offering from the carmaker.
1. The ‘K’ in the KUV is for the youth
The K in the KUV stands for ‘kool’ – a word used most commonly by today’s youth. So this ‘kool utility vehicle’ has its sights set on car buyers in their mid to late 20s.
2. Mahindra inserts the K in curvy
Mahindra Kuv comes with contrary traditional designs of Mahindra’s other SUVs, like the TUV300, Scorpio and the XUV500, the KUV100 gets more subtle and curvy lines.
3. Gear lever in a new position
The images of the KUV that have emerged show that it will sport a gear lever placed on the centre console and not the floor. It’s something’s that a common design in abroad but is a rarity in the Indian subcontinent.
4. A third seat in the front!
Mahindra comes with a new seat capacity in front. The interiors of the KUV100 reveals that it will also feature a front bench seat which means it will seat three passengers up front. the safety of the passengers are taken Mahindra KUV 100 even has seat belts for all three front-seaters.
5. Mahindra debuts new engines
The KUV100 will debut a new series of small capacity engines for Mahindra, which is better known for its larger capacity diesel engines. The new family is badged mFalcon and the engines the KUV100 will use are 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and diesel motors.
6. Gamut of features
KUV 100 come with other features mainly ECO and power modes offered by the KUV100 will be ABS, the infotainment with USB, AUX and Bluetooth connectivity, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning) apart from a cooled glove box, power/eco-driving modes and Mahindra’s Micro Hybrid technology aka start-stop to enhance efficiency.
7. Prices starting from Rs 4.5 lakh
The price Range of the all-new Mahindra KUV100 from Rs 4.5 lakh ex-showroom for the base petrol variant to Rs 7.5 lakh for the top of the line diesel variant. The pricing should put it in the same category as the premium hatchbacks like Honda Jazz, Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
